What Is Low Porosity Hair?
Low porosity hair refers to hair that doesn’t readily absorb water and treatments. If you have low porosity hair, it means the structure of your hair doesn’t easily allow moisture to be absorbed into your hair shaft. But here’s the twist: low porosity hair often looks smooth and shiny on the outside. Sneaky, right?
It is one of the most beautiful looking natural hair.
How to Identify Low Porosity Hair
Let’s play detective! Here are two water tests to determine if you’re part of the low porosity club:
1. The Sink-or-Float Test: Take a freshly shampooed strand of hair and place it in warm water. If it floats, congrats – you’ve got low porosity hair! If it sinks, well, high porosity it is.
2. The Water Absorption Test: Spritz water on a strand. Does it bead up like raindrops on a windshield? If yes, you’re in the low porosity gang.
